Catalyst Artists,
Radical Experiment: Tolansu Dansu

Catalyst Arts presents Tolansu Dansu as part of a radical experiment that seeks to test, redefine, and innovate the use of space, performative technique, and the role of the audience. Tolansu Dansu is a multi-layered interactive dance space for social change inspired by Japanese bon dance, designed by Akiko Ostlund.

+++++

Catalyst Artists are committed to making space for traditionally marginalized artists and communities of color by increasing the visibility of and providing a platform for voices that have historically been underrepresented in the arts. We are also committed to nurturing the development of new work, serving and encouraging emerging artists, career professionals, and radical experimentation.

Akiko Ostlund – Project designer/Catalyst Assistant Curator – Akiko is a dancer, poet, performing artist, collage artist, curator, and activist. She often collaborates with puppeteers in various projects including the Barebones Halloween Extravaganza, the Mayday Parade and In the Heart of the Beast’s Puppet Cabaret series. All of her works focus on community and reflect her voice as an immigrant woman of color.
