Sacred harp singing is an early American hymn tradition with no audition, performance, or rehearsal – just singing. Gathering to make music together is one of humanity’s oldest tools for building community, and traditional participatory musical forms exist in virtually every culture. Although the end products are very different, they have one thing in common: making music is an essential human endeavor. Participation is free and no musical experience or religious affiliation is required.
